Liquid Loading in Gas Wells
All gas wells producing some liquids with decreasing reservoir pressure, eventually suffer liquid loading. If the issue is not addressed beforehand, the accumulation of liquids will gradually reduce gas production or may even kill the well.

Perforations for Production
Perforations are created to develop effective communication between reservoir and wellbore. This requires well to be completed in a way that should enable to opt for desired perforation technique.
A variety of methods has been experimented in the industry:
- Extreme Overbalance; consisting of surge chambers in the bottom hole assembly to provide improved cleanup of the perforation tunnels.

Reservoir pressure declines with the fluid production, in absence of pressure maintenance program. In depleting reservoirs, the implementation of artificial lift (AL) is required to sustain the desired production rate by reducing bottomhole flowing pressure (or increasing draw down). When wells cease to flow naturally AL can maintain the wells producing at economic rates; extending the economic life and increasing recoverable reserves of the field.
In general, material balance studies are conducted to determine the relationship between fluid produced and reservoir pressure. After having the pressure and production relationship, it is possible to estimate future production profiles and quantifying the additional reserves that can be recovered by AL systems. Finally, a detailed analysis of factors such as Capital cost (CAPEX), Operating cost (OPEX), Production flexibility, etc., can justify to choose the optimal lifting method. In short, identifying the best method requires a comprehensive study to develop existing well’s productivity and assisted future performance under existing economics scenario.
